CHARLES W. BUTLER,
of Hobart, IN, (Formerly Miller & Chicago, IL), age 86, passed away
Friday, July 13, 2007. He was a Hobart resident since 1958 and was
formerly of Miller and Chicago. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic
Church, RCIA, Curcillo Movement and the Knights of Columbus St. Thomas
Council. Charles was also a member of the Hobart Family YMCA and the
Little Rock Scripture Group. He was a U.S. Marine serving his country
in the Pacific during World War II. Charles had a vast array of
interests and was an avid White Sox fan. He loved his family and
friends and loved life. He is survived by 1 son: Thomas J. (Twyla)
Butler of Hobart, IN; 5 daughters: Denise (Jim) Williams of Naperville,
IL, Jean (David) Thornton of Hobart, IN, Susan (Terry) Jacobs of Vevay,
IN, Carla (Steve) Houck of Hobart, IN, Marcia (Brad) Thompson of
Palatine, IL; 9 grandchildren: Terry Jr., Justin, Libby, Matthew,
Leslie, Lauren, Joe, Candice, Mitchell; 4 great grandchildren; 2
sisters-in-law: Evelyn Butler of Parr, IN, Helen Galler of Tulsa, OK;
and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Hazel (nee Fortney) and Edwin Johnson, his wife, Mary Jane Galler
Butler, 1 brother, Edwin H. Butler, 2 brothers-in-law, James and Jack
Galler, and 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Galler. Funeral services were
Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old
Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Samuel Abbott, officiating. Cremation followed at Calvary Crematory, Portage. Visitation was Monday, July 16,
2007 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
