FREDERICK W. EHLEN “FRITZ”, age 83 of Portage, IN and resident of Millers Assisted Living Facility passed away Thursday March 26, 2009. He was born on October 17, 1925, the son of the late Frederick H. and Idabel Ehlen. Fritz as he was known was a member of Local 150 Operating Engineers and owned Aetna Hardware store, later working in window and screen repair at Portage Ace Hardware. He proudly served his country in World War II as a Marine in Iwo Jima. Fritz is survived by daughters Catherine (Edward) Webb of South Bend, Pamela (Randy) Tomak of Portage, Barbara (Eric) Miller of Florida, brother Paul (Inga) Henry of St. John, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Fritz is preceded in death by his 1st wife Lois, 2nd wife Jeannie, daughter Judith Ehlen A memorial service for Fritz was held Saturday May 16, 2009 1 pm at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage.
