Howlin Mad Honor Guard Detail
In
2005, the
detachment formed an Honor Guard detail. The detail is
responsible for rendering honors to fallen Marines foremost, and to fallen veterans of other
branches of the military, if no other honor guard can be provided to them.
The Honor Guard does this by:
Providing a memorial service for the deceased at the funeral home.
Rendering honors with rifles, including a volley of three rounds fired and taps played.*
Folding
and presentation of the Flag of the United States of America to the
next of kin when a detail from the
veteran's branch of service is not
available to do so.
* This is done graveside if the deceased is to be buried, and generally outside the funeral home if the deceased is cremated.
The Howlin Mad Detachment Honor Guard provides these services, at no charge, upon request by the veteran's family.
It is our way of saying, "thank you"
to our fallen comrades.
In addition to performing these services for
fallen veterans, the Honor Guard Detail is very active in the community
with Veteran and Memorial Day services, Flag dedication ceremonies and
other special services in honor of fallen service members and veterans.
