
JAMES F. FEENEY "SARGE", age 73, of
Portage, IN, passed away Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Porter-Portage
Hospital Campus. He is survived by sons: James M. (Kristi) Feeney of
Weaver, IA, Tim (Connie) Feeney of Portage, Thomas Feeney (James
Naughton) of Hobart, and Brian (Nicole) Feeney of Valparaiso; daughter
Mary Beth (John) Vincent of Calhoun, GA; brother Anthony Feeney of
Pittsburgh, PA; sister Donna (Dan) MacDonald of Pittsburgh, PA; 13
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by grandson
Alex; brother Bill Feeney and sister Mary Jo Mr. Feeney was born on
March 8, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Charles F. Feeney and Ruth
White. He was married on June 28, 1955 in Twentynine Palms, CA to Darla
J. Schavey, who preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Feeney was formerly
employed as a Veterans Affair Administrator with Porter County. He also
taught ROTC at Portage High School from 1970 until 1987. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. serving for 19 1/2 years, having last
served as a Gunnery Sergeant. Mr. Feeney was a past Commander and life
member of the American Legion Post #260, life member of the VFW in
Portage, and a life member of the 40/8 League. He was also very
civically active and was in charge of Portage parades. Funeral services
will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Edmonds
& Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage ,
IN, with Deacon Richard Huber officiating. Interment at Heritage
Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2006 from
2-8 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel. Memorials
